Weatherspoon Cemetery, Durham County, North Carolina

Hwy #54 (S. Miami Blvd. SR 1959) Durham, NC Lat: 35° 52' 34"N, Lon: 78° 51' 04"W Contributed by Shirley Olson, Jul 20, 2005 [shirley32olson@yahoo.com]. Total records = 16. The cemetery is located between Emperor Drive and Hopson Steet in the 5600 block of S. Miami Blvd, on the southeast corner of Hopson St., facing S. Miami Blvd. close to the Durham-Wake County line. There is a spot to park adjacent to the grassy knoll where the cemetery is mostly hidden among trees and brush. This is an abandoned cemetery on a small parcel of land which sits on the corner of 2 busy roads and next to a commercial site accessed by Emperor Drive. It appears to be a small family cemetery, but I could not find who owns it. This is a complete list of all existing and legible tombstones, from when I walked the cemetery in Jul 06 2005. - Shirley Olson Dupree, W.
