Directions: From Hwy.# 55,(Broad St.) in Angier,NC, go east on SR. 210 (Depot St.) 8 miles to SR.# 1309 (Old Fairground Rd.) turn right onto SR # 1309, go 7/10 mile to a left turn onto SR 1319, (Zack's Mill Rd.) and go 6/10 mile to the cemetery on the left side of the road. Directions: From the intersection of Hwy 70 and Hwy 50 go south on Hwy 50. Cross Hwy 42 and continue south until you see Mt. Zion United Methodist Church on your left, about 8.5 miles. Turn right on Page Rd. and go 1.5 miles and turn left onto Taylor Rd. and go .2 miles. Cemetery is on the right. Park next to the cemetery. This is a family cemetery no longer in use. Directions: From the intersection of Hwy. 70 and Hwy. 50 in Garner, take Hwy. 50 south 6 miles to Cleveland School Rd. (SR 1010). Angle SE onto Cleveland School Rd. and go 2 miles until you reach the intersection of Cleveland School Rd. (SR 1010) and Hwy. 42. Continue through the intersection on 1010 and immediately park in the CVS Pharmacy parking lot on your left. Gower Cemetery is directly across 1010, right next to a used car lot and very thickly overgrown. Gower Cemetery is an abandoned cemetery on a potentially commercial corner. Thanks to Gayle Franks for locating this hidden cemetery. These markers are so hidden in the growth, I could not back up in this jungle to take a photo of the whole burial site. This cemetery was created in 1949 to bury George Washington Garner. It is owned my the Garner Family. It is well kept. (Route 2) Garner Road (State Road 2123), On left side of Garner Road as you head North. Set back off road 50 yards. Surrounded by a chain-link fence. This cemetery is owned by the Garner family. The decendents of W.B. Garner and Lucy House. It is well kept. There are four plots with wooden markers. Presumed to have had wooden tombstones. I have no names for these. Directions: From Angier turn east on Hwy #210 and go 7.6 miles to a cotton field on your right. There is a driveway. Drive in about 100 ft. to the remains of a family cemetery. town of Coats was named for this family. Of the 6 people thought to be buried here, only 2 headstones remain. The ruins of an Antebellum farmhouse sit another 100 feet back and all are surrounded by cotton fields. The nearby town of Coats was named for this family. To reach the William H Smith Cemetery, in the town of Chalybeate Springs turn off Hwy. 40 onto Chalybeate Springs Rd. Turn onto Baptist Grove Rd. and go one mile.
