Lewter Cemetery, Chatham County, North Carolina

From the intersection of Hwy. # 64 West and SR. # 751, Chatham County, take SR 751 north about 3 1/2 miles, to Lewter Shop Rd. (SR # 1740), which intesects from the east. Go east on Lewter Shop Rd. for about 1 mile to the intersection of Thompson Rd. (SR 1741, which only runs south. On the corner of Lewter Shop Rd. & Thompson Rd. is this small cemetery. Park on the side of the road to view. The headstones are on private property. There may be more unmarked graves. No new burials here. The grounds are tidy and well kept. Within a half mile of this little cemetery, another Lewter Cemetery has disappeared. Although noted on maps, there is no visible sign of any graves.
