Lat: 36°11'45"N, Lon: 78°32'19"W Contributed by Brenda Caddell, Mar 19, 2003 [brendajohn@touchnc.net]. Total records = 7. The Jones Cemetery is located on Wayside Farm Rd in Franklinton, NC., just off highway 96 about ¼ mile on the right. This family cemetery is owned and cared for by the Catlette family for many years. Mr. Garland Catlette is deceased now, so there is no one left to care for it. It is badly neglected and overgrown. All stones the same, flat on top, about 6 inches high and made of granite. I walked and read this cemetery Mar 10, 2003. - Brenda Caddell Harris, E. Laura, b. 1851, d. 1885, front rowJones, C. Weatherspoon Cemetery, Durham County, North Carolina

Hwy #54 (S. Miami Blvd. SR 1959) Durham, NC Lat: 35° 52' 34"N, Lon: 78° 51' 04"W Contributed by Shirley Olson, Jul 20, 2005 [shirley32olson@yahoo.com]. Total records = 16. The cemetery is located between Emperor Drive and Hopson Steet in the 5600 block of S. Miami Blvd, on the southeast corner of Hopson St., facing S. Miami Blvd. close to the Durham-Wake County line. There is a spot to park adjacent to the grassy knoll where the cemetery is mostly hidden among trees and brush. This is an abandoned cemetery on a small parcel of land which sits on the corner of 2 busy roads and next to a commercial site accessed by Emperor Drive. It appears to be a small family cemetery, but I could not find who owns it. This is a complete list of all existing and legible tombstones, from when I walked the cemetery in Jul 06 2005. - Shirley Olson Dupree, W. Kinsey-Simmons Cemetery (The Rock Cemetery)

2117 Asbury RoadCove City, NC 28523 Lat: 35°13'39"N, Lon: 77°16'17"W (approx) Contributed by George Wetherington, Mar 07, 2002 [geegeorgie@yahoo.com]. Total records = 15. This cemetery is on west side of Asbury Road, Cove City, NC, 28523, off hwy 55 West about 18-20 miles West of New Bern NC. on the same road the Asbury Methodist Cemetery is on, about a mile closer to Hwy 55, in a field about 80 yards from Asbury Road, enclosed with uncemented rock squares as a fence some 3 1/2 feet high. For over 25 years I have known about this old cemetery, it could be seen with a shell rock fence. It used to be so grown up no one could enter it. A few years ago scouts cleaned it out, but it is growing up again. I did not know what name it was originally called, but because 'Simmons and Kinsey' were the names there-in, and because those names go back a long ways around here, I called it by that name. While looking for the old Charlton-White Cemetery, I started asking people if they knew about that old cemetery, and was told by one person: 'Oh, there is the old rock Cemetery down the road a bit,' that is where I took the name Rock Cemetery. I told him I knew about that one, but that is the first time I had ever heard it gived any name whatsoever. When I first went there years ago, the only name I could reach through the growth was 'Lane', and I thought it to be full of 'Lanes'. No one that owns the land seems to know anything about those buried there, that is why I stated the original names. I have prepared this work from walking the cemetery on Mar 5, 2002, -George Wetherington Ernul, Major F., no datesKinsey, Joel, b. 7 Mar 1827, d. 28 Mar 1902Kinsey, Nancy, b. 28 Sep 1860 d. 03 Jul 1862Kinsey, Sally B., b. 17 Nov 1854, d. 23 Sep 1862Kinsey, William H., no datesLane, Julie G., b. 1834, d. unreadableLane, William, b. 1852, d. 1858, son of H.B. & Julie LaneSimmons, Catherine, d. Contributed by Mary Lanaville, Mar 24, 2002 [marylanav@juno.com]. Total records = 13. Directions in North Carolina, I-40 exit 125, turn south, then right [west] on Highway 70 about a mile and the cemetery is on the left [south] between the overpass for I-40 and a mattress store I think J & L used cars owns the land around it. Currently there is no caretaker: however I noticed it because they are doing some construction around it. They are building a car lot around it, but the man that was operating the heavy equipment, a Mr Craig from Lenoir says they plan to put shrubs around it and fix the fence and according to NC law they have to take care of it. This cemetery is about 200 years old, I do not believe it is active. The sign says it was established about 1800 These are the only names remaining on tombstones now. Take Hwy 52 south from Norwood across Rocky River bridge into Anson County. After crossing bridge take first road to your right which will be old US 52. Once on old US 52 go across small bridge and the first dirt road to your right. Walk about one mile up the dirt road and there will be a patch of trees in the middle of a field on your right. The cemetery is located in the patch of trees. The cemetery is in very poor condition. Farming of the land has not helped with the preservation of the cemetery. This transcription includes all burials are record to the best of my knowledge. I visited this cemetery in Feb 2003, walking the cemetery and writting down all the info available. - Brandy H. Robert L. Perry Family Cemetery, Alleghany County, North Carolina

Contributed by Tom Perry February 2000 [tom_perry@hotmail.com]. Total records = 11. The Robert L. Perry cemetery is located in Alleghany County, North Carolina. I visited there myself in August of 1996 and copied names and dates from the legible stones. I have clear photographs of some. The cemetery is located on Fred Weaver Road off 113 via 1300. If you park at the old campground it is a short walk to the trail to the top of the hill. The trail is marked by an old cable stretched across it, but easily crossed. The directions from the Alleghany cemetery listings state that it is on the left, toward the mouth of the creek. It is opposite the creek and other small family cemeteries are along this road, some well hidden from the road by the woods. You cross the cable and follow the path to the top of the hill, The graveyard was well tended, fenced, and mown on my last visit. This includes all the legible names that were found there. - Tom Perry Perry, David I, b.3-25-1831, d.12-19-1919 Perry, Hiram, b.4-23-1864, d.6-14-1952 Perry, JW, b.3-?-1886, d.7-19-1889, partly unreadible Perry, Lillie S., b.10-28-1879, d.4-6-1935, wife of Robert L. Edwards Family Cemetery, Sparta, Alleghany County, North Carolina

Lat: 36° 31' 33"N, Lon: 81° 06' 46"W Contributed by Leanne C. Evans, Jan 14, 2007, last edited Feb 07, 2007 [leanne@rootdigger.net]. Total records = 20. To reach this cemetery from Sparta, take Independence Road north for about 1.5 miles, turn right onto Brookfield Road, and the cemetery is about .04 or so of a mile on the right. This cemetery is on private property, so it has no 911 address of it's own. It would be best to obtain permission to visit from the property owner. Inscription on the back of the grave marker for George and Leila Edwards, reads, "This one acre of land set aside in 1971, to be used for the benefit of this cemetery, by George and Leila Edwards, and is to remain in his name as owner, until the end of time when Jesus comes." The cemetery is a 1 acre fenced in lot next to a sort of tan colored vinyl siding house. I was unable to record the illegible stones. This is a complete record of all existing and legible headstone or marker readings as of Jan 12, 2007. - Leanne C.
